My Dear Shaun

Today was the first time I was able to open your Funeral Book. As I started to read each page, I was overcome with love, compassion and a sense of comfort.

I wish to congratulate you and your staff for assembling such a wonderful collection of verses, page layouts and the personal touches mentioned in the book.

Terry's funeral was so touching. Everything was so perfect, even the music played made me feel Terry was sitting beside me tapping his foot with a big smile on his face. He loved Willie Nelson's "On the road again" it always brought trucking memories of his lifetime on the road. At the end of the service, listening to Tom Jones with "Green Green Grass of Home" it always reminded him of his parents and his boyhood living in the Pilliga Scrub. How happy I was to hear these songs again... just for him.

Shaun, I thank you so much for making that day so beautiful. I miss Terry and always will, we had nearly 70 years together, a lifetime of love and quarrels and I would do it all over again. You have given me peace and contentment knowing Terry was well looked after, treated with care, love and respect, for this I truly thank you.

I had been meaning to write to you earlier than this, firstly allowing me the extra day while my finances came to maturity for your payment, that helped me no end. Second, for the service you provided was well below the cost that I thought would be much higher. Thirdly, you were my prince in shining armour coming at a time when I was floundering. Thank you.

I have arranged with Jodi (you met her, my daughter, carer) to engage your services for my funeral, knowing I will be well looked after. It won't be as big as Terry's (I'm shy), but unfortunately it will involve Kemps Creek, which means a few extra night's stay at Tamworth. So until that time, I send you my regards for a successful career, health and happiness I wish you.

Sincerely,
Fay D. Redman

Dear Shaun

On behalf of Barbara John, we would like to express our sincere appreciation for your outstanding effort in staging the graveside burial and then memorial service for our late father, David Phillip John OAM.

From the moment you attended our family home on the afternoon of Sunday, April 9, 2017, the day of David's death, until the finish of the memorial service on April 21, you conducted yourself with great compassion and kindness, and provided an extremely professional service.

We would also like to thank the various members of your team for the endeavours.

Thank you, Shaun.

Yours sincerely,
Libby Khan, Steve John, Andrew John, Phil John and families.

Dear Shaun

We are writing to express our appreciation for the professional manner in which you took care of the funeral arrangements for Maxwell Robertson of Duri.

We were impressed with every aspect of the service provided by you and your staff, from the initial contact, to the pick-up of the body, visit to our home and delivery of the funeral service on Friday.

In addition, the compassion extended to Max’s family and friends was inspiring.

Max’s every wish was granted, he was treated with dignity and respect, and his funeral service was a fitting tribute to a very fine man, thanks to the celebrant, Suzanne O’Keeffe.

We loved the words she put together so skilfully… and delivered with sensitivity and caring.

At such a sad time, it was such a relief to know that we were in the safe hands of trusted professionals.

On behalf of the Robertson family, we extend our grateful thanks for everything you and your staff did to give Max a dignified passage from this life.

Kind regards
Neville and Annette Cross

Dear Shaun

Thank you for the expert way my mums service was conducted, in all aspects. Times such as this are all very trying but with your expert help, everything was taken care of in every way.

We can all be very proud to live in the Quirindi district and to have a funeral director like you to conduct the funeral.

Yours sincerely
Kay Barwick

 Dear Shaun

Thank you for the excellent service that you provided for my mother, Olive Austin on Thursday 14th August 2014. Your professional, caring approach ensured that the process prior to, during and following the service was well organised and relatively stress free from my perspective as the “responsible” person charged with implementing my mother’s wishes.

Yours sincerely
Anne Jacob

Dear Shaun

Thank you for the support and advice you were able to make available to myself and the Newman family when you conducted the funeral and memorial service for Warren Newman.

Your meticulous preparation and attention to detail enabled the services to be conducted in the manner that Warren had requested.

Thank you also for being available to answer those “little queries” as they arose and at the time, seemed important.

It was gratifying for me to know that you were willing to advise on a choice when you could have given the most advantageous price wise for you. Thank you.

The reverence and dignity you were able to instil into the service and the lead up to it are most appreciated.

Please accept these comments as coming from the Newman’s as well as myself.

Yours sincerely
Euan Coutts

Shaun

On behalf of myself and my daughters I would just like to thank you for the personal and caring service you gave in regards to the funeral of Bill Norman.

Dad being dad only had one request and that was that you were to organise his funeral.

Every detail was taken care of beautifully and we could not have wished for a more fitting goodbye to our dearly treasured dad and pop, I feel sure he would have been forever grateful to you.

Special thanks for the gesture of pausing outside his home, what a beautiful thought on your part.

Kind regards
Kathy, Hannah and Sarah

Dear Shaun

We would like to thank you for the beautiful service you provided our family. You made what was a difficult experience for our family bearable. We are so grateful that you were the one to be there for our family to organise all that we asked of you.

We are appreciative that you allowed us to take your folders to mum while she was in hospital. We are grateful that you came to the house to allow us to discuss what needed to be done.

You made the viewing of dad a beautiful experience. It was a very hard thing we had to go through but I am glad I did. Dad looked as though he was just resting. The placement of his hands was exactly how he would have held them. It made me feel at ease that you had so lovingly prepared him for us to say our final good bye. It gave our family closure. Due to the circumstances Dad was taken from us this was a much needed experience.

The service was beautiful. It truly honoured our father’s life.

My words will never be able to express how much your involvement meant to our family.

Thank you.
With all my love

Kylie

Dear Shaun

I’d like to thank you on behalf of my family for your compassion and thoughtfulness to us in our saddest moments at the loss of our Dad and Mum’s husband of over 64 years. You and your team handled all the arrangements re the funeral efficiently and beautifully and appreciate this.

Thank you for allowing us a viewing of Dad. I did, indeed, feel much better after seeing him in his best clothes and looking peaceful. He looked like Dad again.

For all these things and for arranging matters at the church and for preparing the paperwork also the flowers, which we loved, we thank you. I just wish I had a picture of the Australian flowers. I’m sure Dad would have approved.

Yours sincerely
Julie McNamara

Dear Shaun & Staff

I am writing to thank you for your caring professional conduct when you helped me carry out Gary’s wishes for his funeral in April after he passed away on 5th April.

You made everything so easy for us. Gary had suffered for a long time but more so in recent months. I have to be thankful that he is longer suffering.

Once again thank you for a job well done.

I have been dealing with Walcha Council for the interment of his ashes and it will probably be Monday 15th June and they have agreed to let us place the ashes because my daughter was overseas. I will let you know closer when I will want them.

Kind regards
Margaret Hanson

To Shaun & your amazing staff

Not good with words. Just want to say thank you for the job you have done for Adrianna.

It was beautiful, amazing. Just how we wanted it. You are amazing at your job.

Thank you
from Judy, Sergio, Nick, Josh

Dear Shaun

On behalf of the entire Pursehouse Family, I would like to thank you and your staff for the most wonderful attention to detail you dedicated to the arrangements for Marj’s funeral.

We are all so appreciative of your efficiency but most particularly your compassion and willingness to give Marj the final accolade she deserved.

I worry that we may have taken a little too much time with the eulogy, but we wanted to remember Marj as a person in her own right, not just Fred’s wife or Malcom, Clive and Andrew’s mother. By the time a few ad-libs were thrown in, it was quite long. Thank you for your tolerance if we did.

Thank you for liaising with Kevin, Melissa and Fran.

Please pass on our thanks to your staff, Jenny, Dudley, Bev and Peter for their caring professionalism.

With sincere gratitude
Robin Pursehouse

Dear Shaun

We would like to express our appreciation to yourself and staff for a wonderful service and thank you sincerely.

Regards
Allan Costelloe
